Asian Collection
Simplicity is an acquired taste. Mankind, left
free, instinctively complicates life.
~Katharine
Fullerton Gerould
The
simplicity of the clean lines found in Asian artwork and architecture, whether
it be a soft-hued serene image of flowers and birds, or the bold, strong design
of an Asian pagoda, express much emotion and story. They seem
uncomplicated, yet create a strong presence - much like these designs.

Mireuksa Pagoda
*New*
The Mireuksa pagoda, the largest,
as well as the oldest, Korean pagoda, was the inspiration for this necklace.
Sterling silver that has been formed, hammered, and
soldered together in a more traditional pagoda building style, surrounding
two glowing abalone stones. Pendant hangs approximately 1¼"
in width and 1½" in length on an 18"
sterling silver chain.

Perfume Pagoda Necklace
*New*
This pagoda necklace was inspired
by an ancient pagoda in Perfume, Vietnam that has been standing for
centuries and was untouched by the wars. (Look it up on Google - it's
hauntingly amazing.) A lapis stone speckled with pyrite and a blazing
garnet hand as if suspended in time (like the pagoda it is named for) among
this hand-wrought sterling silver design. Pendant is approximately 1½" wide by
1½" high and is suspended from an18"
sterling silver chain.

Emperor's Throne Pagoda

The shape of this necklace reminds
me of an emperor's throne. Set in a hand-wrought sterling silver
setting, a handmade porcelain bead featuring etched Asian characters sits
between two denim lapis stones. Pagoda pendant is approximately 1½" high by 1¼" wide and is suspended from an18"
sterling silver chain.

sterling silver chain.
AC-OT Onyx Temple:

Dragon and Tiger Pagodas
The Taiwan Dragon and Tiger
pagodas are identical except one has a dragon at its entrance, and the other
a tiger. It is said that by entering the dragon's throat and exiting
the tiger's mouth symbolizes turning bad luck into good fortune. This hand-wrought sterling silver
double pagoda style necklace
was formed, hammered and
soldered together, and then set with two brilliant garnet stones. Pendant hangs approximately
2"
in width and 1" in length on a 17"
sterling silver chain.
AC-DT Dragon and Tiger Pagodas:

Inle Lake Pagoda
(Featured in Wedding Dresses Magazine)
The mystical pagodas of Inle Lake
in Burma that appear to be rising from the water inspired this sterling
silver necklace. Two soft blue topaz stones represent the calming
waters of Inle Lake as they are set in sterling silver that has been formed, hammered and
soldered together. Pendant hangs approximately ¾"
in width and 1½" in length on an 18"
sterling silver chain.
AC-IL Inle Lake Pagoda:
$95.00
Temple of Gratitude
The Porcelain Tower of Nanjing in China, known as the
"Tower of Gratitude," was the inspiration for this sterling silver necklace.
The clean lines of sterling silver that has been formed, hammered and
soldered together, surround a calming blue lapis stone and a brilliant
green peridot. Pendant hangs approximately 2¾"
in width and 1½" in length on an 18"
sterling silver chain.

Toji Pagoda
This pendant was inspired by Toji, Japan's tallest
wooden pagoda that stands at five stories high. Two brilliant abalone
cabochons surround a stunning Baltic amber centerpiece set in hammered sterling
silver. Pendant hangs approximately 1½"
in width and 1½" in length on an 18"
sterling silver chain.
AC-TP Toji Pagoda: $95.00
Peace Pagoda
Most pagodas were built to house peaceful religious
functions, hence the name for the first design I created for this
collection. A centerpiece of abalone glistens among a cage
of brushed sterling silver. Pendant hangs approximately 1½"
in width and 1¼" in length on a 17"
sterling silver chain.
AC-PN Peace Pagoda: $60.00
Leaning Pagoda Earrings
On the summit of Tiger Hill stands
an amazingly beautiful pagoda that, for the past 400 years, leans at 359º to
the northwest. It predates, and is taller than the Leaning Tower of
Pisa. This is my interpretation in hand-wrought and textured sterling
silver. Earrings hang approximately ¾" from earlobe on sterling silver ear hooks.
AC-LE Leaning Pagoda Earrings: $58.00
