I am a self-taught metalsmith who fell in love with the properties of shaping, texturing and coloring various precious and non-precious metals, and meeting fire with metal make me a very happy girl! My designs are all hand-fabricated using both traditional, and sometimes untraditional metalsmith techniques, and although I tend to favor sterling silver, I do occasionally incorporate 14kt gold, 14kt gold-fill, 24kt gold, bronze, copper and brass. In many instances, I like my designs to look time-worn, much like the antique look of vintage jewelry. This is created by using various patinas to create a darkening effect on metal ranging from a deep black, to a silvery gray, with variations of blues, greens and purples thrown in to add more depth and brilliance to the piece.
Each of my designs is a unique, handcrafted tapestry of precious metals, gemstones, pearls, crystals and found objects - created with a touch of whimsy! Much of my inspiration is drawn from nature, myth and folklore, as well as old world and Renaissance time periods. I like to create designs that not only entice the wearer to really look at the design and investigate the intricate, detailed work involved, but also to handle it and discover its texture, personality and beauty. To me, the greatest compliment is when someone incorporates one of my jewelry designs into their own unique style. To know that the piece is being worn, and that it puts a smile on someone's face whenever they wear it, makes me truly happy.
